Overview
Young & Healthy is a health care program that provides free medical, dental, psychological and case-management services to low-income, uninsured children in the Pasadena Schools, day care centers and homeless shelters in the greater Pasadena community. Health services are provided by volunteer physicians, dentists, therapists, optometrists and other health care professionals. Young & Healthy is based on the conviction that it is the right of every child to have access to quality health care regardless of income levels and that early health care is an investment in the future of the community.

Young & Healthy Sponsors USC Mobile Dental Clinic
Another amazing success story for Young and Healthy happened the last week in February. 120 uninsured and underprivileged
children of all ages and sizes received free dental care, many of them no doubt amazed as well by the array of
USC Dentistry students and equipment.
This is the fifteenth year of sponsorship for the project occurring this year at
Washington Elementary School. The mobile clinic works out of four converted
RVs, equipped with dental chairs, a full array of dental equipment, lights and
music! Children being served by the clinic receive x-rays and a plan of treatment
for the week, all under the supervision of licensed pediatric and general dentists.
Enabling children to have sparkling white teeth, cavity-free, is more than a one
week project. A comprehensive Pre-K dental program includes ongoing free
care provided by 42 generous volunteer dentists along with a prevention and
parent education program. A smile-inducing program for over 900 first graders is
another of Young and Healthy’s significant contributions to the dental health of
children.
Contribute to Our Success
Young & Healthy is built on an army of dedicated volunteers. We invite you to help. Our volunteers wear many hats. They are, of course, the health care professionals. They are also men and women who help staff the office of the school nurse, who help hunt special services for particular children, who drive the children to their appointments, teach dental hygiene, follow up with parents, or assist us in our administrative office. They are also the people who give financial support to the program.
